The Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Department has launched an AI-based soil health monitoring project in drought-prone areas of Bundelkhand. Farmers use handheld sensors and mobile apps that analyze soil quality, including pH, moisture, nitrogen, and potassium content. The app then suggests crop varieties, fertilizer doses, and irrigation frequency. The system is multilingual, operating in Bundeli, Hindi, and English. Over 12,000 farmers have adopted the tool, reporting a 20% increase in productivity. Officials also plan to integrate satellite imagery for pest tracking and seasonal forecasting. The initiative aims to empower farmers with scientific insights, especially in areas affected by erratic monsoons and soil degradation.
